EMPLOYEES
WELFARE MEASURES
In order
to ensure a healthy working environment inside the campus, a
series of employees' welfare measures have been adopted. The major
facets of staff welfare administration within the campus are
outlined below :
1. STAFF HOUSING :
All staff members in Raj Bhavan
are provided with housing accommodation free of rent in the Raj
Bhavan staff colonywithin the Raj Bhavan.
2. EXTENSION COUNTER OF
STATE BANK OF INDIA AT RAJ BHAVAN
System
of issuing all payments to the staff of Raj Bhavan through
cheques was introduced and to enable the staff to do their banking
transactions, an extension counter of the State Bank of India was
opened in the premises of Raj Bhavan Dispensary. The Extension
Counter was inaugurated by His Excellency the Governor of Orissa
on 27th Feb. 2002. The extension counter is kept open on Tuesdays
and Fridays to enable the staff to do their banking
transactions.
3. Retirement Benefits :
The
staff of Raj Bhavan, who retired from service earlier had to
struggle to get their retirement benefits after their retirement.
In order to redress their grievances, His Excellency the Governor,
introduced the system of taking advance action to settle all
retirement dues and handing over the retirement benefits such as
Pension Payment Order, Commutation of pension, surrender of earned
leave at credit, GPF accumulation, DCRG etc., to the staff who
retire from service, on the very day of their retirement . This
has been hailed as a very good system by the staff of Raj Bhavan,
as they are now spared the travails of running to different
offices after their retirement to get their dues settled.
4. Health and
Sanitation
The Raj Bhavan Staff
Dispensary provides basic treatment facilities as well as free
medicines to the staff members and their families. Benefits of
different national health programmes such as Pulse Polio
Immunization etc. are made available to the employees through the
Staff Dispensary. Members of the public needing medical
attention are also provided free consultancy services at the
dispensary. The PHD wing ensures round the clock supply of safe
drinking water to the entire colony.
5. Recreation Centres
The employees have been
provided with a Recreation Centre at the heart of Raj Bhavan Staff
Colony. Two registered voluntary societies, viz. Raj Bhavan Staff
Club and Rising Club are functioning in the building since 1970s.
With a spacious campus spread over more than one acre of land,
the Club building is equipped with all amenities to organise
social functions such as get together, marriage ceremonies etc..
The Staff members have taken advantage of the Clubs by arranging
different socially useful programmes like Sunday School for dance,
music and painting, sports activities, competition in academic and
other fields for the children, awareness based programmes such as
empowerment of women etc. through the staff clubs.
6. Childrens' Park
A small but attractive
Childrens' Park has been set up near the Raj Bhavan Staff
Dispensary for the use of the children of staff members. The
Childrens' Park is equipped with modern play and exercise
amenities as well as a spacious play ground.
7. There is a Badminton Court and a Lawn
Tennis Court.
